Kochia is a troublesome and often herbicide resistant weed that is observed in canola fields. To better understand the impact of canola on kochia and kochia on canola, we grew a single canola plant in a pot surrounded by 0, 2, 4, or 6 kochia plants, and likewise a single kochia plant surrounded by 0, 2, 4, or 6 canola plants and then extracted root tissues from the target plant for RNAseq analyses to gain an understanding of the impact on the transcriptome varying levels of plant-plant interference had on the target species. The experiments were run twice (expt 2 and expt 3) with three biological reps per treatment in each experiment.
