Anastrepha genus comprises more than 300 species, which are widely distributed across the Americas. Several of these species are considered important agricultural pests, because of the damage they cause to a large variety of fruits. One of the most relevant is Anastrepha fraterculus (s.l.), which consists of a complex of cryptic species broadly distributed across South America and Mesoamerica. The boundaries between these lineages have not been fully determined due to their recent divergence and the high levels of introgression in their genomes. We generated whole genome resequencing data for 13 specimens to contribute to understand the relationships of Anastrepha fraterculus complex and closely related species and establish a baseline for molecular identification of this intricate group.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA907378 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
