The Asian giant hornet, Vespa mandarinia, is the largest hornet species. Native to eastern and southeastern parts of Asia, it was confirmed for the first time in North America in 2019, where it poses an invasive threat to honey bees and human health. The data for this assembly was generated from a single specimen collected from the first identified colony in North America. This is the principal (primary) pseudohaplotype of the Vespa mandarinia (isolate Nanaimo) genome that we sequenced.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA649644 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
