A de novo assembly of the Vanessa tameamea (Kamehameha butterfly) genome to provide a foundational genomic tool to facilitate population genomic research on this endemic species across the Hawaiian Islands. DNA was derived from one single adult female reared in colony, extracted to generate high molecular weight DNA which was used for input for a 10x Genomics Chromium library, and sequenced on an Illumina HiSeq x10. Resulting data was assembled using Supernova Software (10X Genomics).
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA412104 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
