The goal of the study was to determine if mice genetically susceptible to colitis are colonized with colitic-associated bacteria, will they exhibit an early onset and increased disease severity of colitis. The results of the study provide evidence for the use of fecal microbial transplantations from individuals with colitis to model the progression and severity of colitis in IL-10 -/- mice. Furthermore, the results of the study indicate that microbial stability is influential in disease progression.
