Streptomyces rapamycinicus NRRL 5491 strain is a well-known producer of rapamycin, which is a value-added chemical with various bioactivities including antifungal, antitumor and immunosuppressive functions. In this study, whole genome sequences of S. rapamycinicus wild-type strain NRRL 5491 and rapamycin hyper-producer SRMK07 strain, obtained from random mutagenesis of the wild-type strain, were analyzed to identify gene mutations that allowed the hyper-production performance of the SRMK07 strain.
