Spiroplasma citri is a bacterium that causes stubborn disease of citrus and carrot purple leaf. S. citri is transmitted by leafhoppers in a circulative and persistent manner. Due to limited sequence data on S. citri, the bacterium was isolated from carrot. DNA from S. citri C5 was extracted from a culture in LD8 and subjected to Nanopore sequencing. This genome extends the sequence database of S. citri and allow for comparative genomics analyses with previously sequenced strains.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA625113 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
