In this study, we set out to explore how solitary bee larvae impact the brood cell microbiome in a common, easily manipulated, solitary, stem-nesting bee, Osmia cornifrons (Megachilidae). We conducted an experiment to determine (1) the temporal shift of larval and pollen microbiomes through larval development and (2) whether actively feeding larvae modify the brood cell microbial community through feeding.
