Here, we investigate the influence of wheat bran particle size on fermentation by human gut microbiota. After conducting daily sequential passages at 24-hour intervals for seven consecutive days, microbial community structures were evaluated using 16S rRNA amplification with primers 515FB and 926R. We observed significant size dependence, both in microbial taxonomic composition and community structure, and also in metabolite production (i.e., SCFAs).
