Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) is conservation agriculture crop because of its broad geographical distribution and its potential high yields. We sampled fungi soils underneath four switchgrass cultivars planted at low and high densities in southeastern Mississippi and MiSeq-analyzed fungal (Internal Transcribed Spacer 2 (ITS2) of the ribosomal RNA repeat) metabarcode markers to evaluate fungal community seasonal dynamics as well as to analyze community responses to switchgrass cultivars and planting densities. These data contribute towards a better understanding of interactions among plants and their associated microbiomes as well as their seasonal dynamics.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers.
