To better understand the molecular mechanisms of maize resistance to Aspergillus flavus growth and aflatoxin accumulation in kernels, we performed a high-throughput study in situ using maize kernels infected with A. flavus. Kernels from three corn lines, TZAR102 (resistant), MI82 (semi resistant), Virginia-35 (susceptible) were inoculated with A. flavus NRRL3357 spores and harvested for RNA at 8 hours, 3 days, and 7 days.
