Project was designed to further characterize pathogen virulence mechanisms in the wheat- P. tritici-repentis system using a genetic approach. So we focused on developing resources and tools to clone gene (s) involved in Ptr ToxC production. AR CrossB10 was known to produce Ptr ToxC. Therefore, we developed a bi-parental fungal population by crossing P. tritici-repentis isolates AR CrossB10 (Unknown race, Ptr ToxC producer) and 86-124 (race 2, Ptr ToxC non-producer). We genotyped the population and developed a genetic map in parallel to the development of the genome assembly of AR CrossB10. Eventually both of these resources will be used to identify candidate regions for Ptr ToxC production.
