Paulinella micropora KR01 5-prime-complete enriched transcripts

The rhizarian amoeba Paulinella harbors an organelle derived from a cyanobacterial endosymbiont, making it the only recent example of primary plastid endosymbiosis. Transcripts in Paulinella undergo spliced-leader trans-splicing (SLTS), which is a process where a short (20-nt) conserved spliced leader sequence is added to the 5-prime terminus of precursor mRNAs. The function of SLTS in Paulinella has yet to be described and the affects that addition of the spliced leader sequence at sites within a gene has not yet been explored.
