Northeast US Tidal Marsh Sediment Soil Properties - UMass-NRCS

This dataset contains soil organic matter and soil dry bulk density for 435 tidal marsh surface samples and 39 sediment cores ranging 1-2 m collected from 19 sites across the Northeast United States. Samples were collected in transects away from tidal creeks to characterize spatial patterns in marsh soil properties.

Samples are representative of the top 10 cm, which represent roughly 25 years of sediment accumulation between 1995 and 2020.

• Resource Title: UMass Northeast US tidal marsh down core bulk density File Name: UMass_BlueCarbonCores_BD.csv Resource Description: Sediment core depth series with bulk density for 15.5 cm^3 subsamples corresponding to the listed starting and ending depths.

• Resource Title: UMass Northeast US tidal marsh down core LOI File Name: UMass_BlueCarbonCores_LOI.csv Resource Description: Sediment core depth series with LOI for 1 cm subsamples corresponding to the listed starting and ending depths.

• Resource Title: UMass Northeast US tidal marsh sediment core locations File Name: UMass_sediment_core_locations.csv Resource Description: Locations of sediment cores listed in LOI and BD depth series. Locations and elevations were obtained with RTK GPS, except where “GPS_method” notes that a handheld GPS was used.
