Geographic location - description

Moreau River Basin (drainage area = 1,510 sq. km, elevation ranged 162 to 335 m.a.m.s.l.) located in central Missouri, USA. The main channel, Moreau River, was a 6th order river (Strahler Order). The basin was divided by two Level IV/III Ecoregions including The Prairie Ozark Border of the Ozark Highlands in the headwaters and the River Hills near the outlet. Mixed land use was approximately 64% agricultural, 28% forested, 6% urban, and 2% other during 2020. Soils were generally stony red clay residuum, pockets, of loess, and alluvium. Soils were underlain largely by Ordovician age cherty dolomite, thin beds of shale, and minor deposits of sandstone. Average annual precipitation was 1,016 mm. Mean annual air temperature was 13.5 C.
