Maize evolutionary impacts on rhizobiome recruitment from contrasting agricultural management systems

An evolutionary transect of twelve maize genotypes (teosinte, landraces, inbreds, modern hybrids) was grown in agricultural soils from long-term conventional and organic management. The goal of the study was to determine whether domestication and directed evolution have altered maize-rhizobiome interactions and adaptation to organic agroecosystems.
