Listeria monocytogenes is a foodborne pathogen that is capable of surviving in food production environments despite various methods used by producers to mitigate microbial contamination. Previous RNAseq analysis of L. monocytogenes strain 6179 following lactic acid stress revealed a marked upregulation of the small noncoding RNA Rli47. Rli47 is known to regulate L. monocytogenes metabolism, but despite its upregulation in response to multiple, food production-relevant stressors, its role in stress response is not well characterized. The sequencing data deposited here belong to a subsequent transcriptomic analysis comparing 6179 to an isogenic rli47 deletion mutant under multiple conditions including lactic acid stress. Characterizing the role of Rli47 in L. monocytogenes and its response to stress may help inform researchers about how L. monocytogenes survives stressors and contaminates food production environments.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA1164155 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
