Klebsiella spp., including K. oxytoca, are involved in a myriad of human disease including inflammatory bowel disease, sepsis, reactive arthritis, and urinary tract infections. In recent years it has been determined that these conditions could be considered a type of foodborne illness as Klebsiella spp. are present in foods and can be a genetic match to those involved in clinical disease. In this study we report the draft genomic sequence of a K. oxytoca isolated from retail chicken.
