Klebsiella spp., including K. oxytoca, are involved in a myriad of human disease including inflammatory bowel disease, sepsis, reactive arthritis, and urinary tract infections. In recent years it has been determined that these conditions could be considered a type of foodborne illness as Klebsiella spp. are present in foods and can be a genetic match to those involved in clinical disease. In this study we report the draft genomic sequence of a K. oxytoca isolated from retail chicken.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA587512 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
