This data publication contains individual tree diameter data collected from 1972 to 2012 under the study plan 4110-FS-NE-1152-76 "Study Plan: Thinning study in Allegheny hardwoods" on the Kane Experimental Forest in Pennsylvania. This study provides data about tree growth and survival as affected by stand structure parameters and thinning regimes from 30% to 100% residual density. To correlate growth and mortality by species and diameter class with relative density and structure in the residual stand. The raw data publication available represents several study areas of an ongoing, long-term study. Data collected in additional treatment areas through revisions to this study will be made available at a later time. We recommend that users review the documentation provided with the full data publication download before proceeding with data summary or analysis.
Several papers using data collected through this study are available in the Cross Reference section.
