Intestinal microbiota of channel (I. punctatus) and hybrid (I. punctatus x I. furcatus) catfish

The intestinal microbiota was compared between segments of the intestine (anterior, middle, and posterior) of channel (Ictalurus punctatus) and hybrid (I. punctatus x I. furcatus) catfish reared in aquaria. Microbiota characterization was achieved using high-throughput sequencing of the V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene.
