A batch culture approach was used to identify starch utilizing bacteria from the rumen of beef cows. Samples were collected and analyzed from the rumen fluid donors and in cultures that were either supplemented with starch or not (control). 16S rRNA profiling was used to monitor changes in bacterial composition. A metagenomics/shot gun approach was used to annotate the genome of an enriched bacterial strain.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA675290 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
