Honey

This file contains the annual report of the number of colonies producing honey, yield per colony, honey production, average price, price by color class and value; honey stocks by state and U.S. The report also notes trends and changes in the honey producing sector, such as percent change in honey prices or quantity of production. The data for this report were collected from a stratified sample of all known operations that also meet USDA's definition of a farm, prices were collected by color class and marketing channel from operations with five or more colonies.

Use limitations

Data for missing operations were estimated based on similar operations or historical data. State offices prepare these estimates by using a combination of survey indications and historic trends. Prices for each color class are derived by weighting the quantities sold for each marketing channel. Individual State estimates are reviewed by the Agricultural Statistics Board for reasonableness. Revisions are the result of late reports or corrected data.
