A comparison of the efficacy of long-reads and proximity ligation in resolving members of the cattle rumen microbial community. A combined rumen fluid and solid sample was sequenced using short- and long-read DNA sequencing technologies and each dataset was assembled de novo, individually. Additionally, proximity ligation was used as a means of identifying microbial genome structure and novel biological features, such as viral-host specificity in the sample.
