The goal of the study was to investigate the degradation and influence of complex food and supplement fibers on the participant gut microbiomes as well as other outcomes such as changes in SCFA and microbial gene expression. The five subjects were chosen for their diverse CAZymes from a pool of 18 subjects. The seven fibers - banana, kale, flax, coconut flour, MS Prebiotic, Sunfiber, and 13 Bean Soup Mix - were chosen for their unique monosaccharide profiles.
