This study is intended to define the root transcriptome of upland cotton, and compare gene expression of susceptible (DPL90 & SG747), hypersensitive (LONREN 1), and resistant (BARBAREN 713) varieties of cotton during infestation by reniform nematode (Rotylenchulus reniformis). R. reniformis is a significant root endoparasitic nematode pathogen of cotton for which there are limited genetic resources. This study attempts to identify the critical genes for resistance within the limited available resources.
