Genome Resource of well-authenticated Phytophthora hibernalis, P. nicotianae and P. syringae using Third Generation Ultra Long-read Sequencing via MinION

Plant Pathogens draft genome sequences (WGS) are vital for understanding pathogen mechanism as well as for various diagnostics and taxonomic purposes. Type material is the taxonomic important support for formal names to the specimens submitted to museums or herbaria that serve as exemplars for the species. Here we report the Whole-Genome Sequence (WGS) of the well-authenticated selected specimens of P. hibernalis (specimen BL41G) (with continuous contigs 404 and assembled genome size 84Mb), P. nicotianae (specimen BL162) (with continuous contigs 3984 and assembled genome size 106Mb), and P. syringae (specimen BL57G) (with continuous contigs 591 and assembled genome size 75Mb) using Ultra Long-read Third Generation High-Throughput Sequencing (3G-HTS) via MinION Nanopore technology. These species are important plant pathogens affecting agriculture around the world. These WGS are part of the Ex-type or well authenticated specimens for species in the Genus Phytophthora that we are implementing for future work with comparative genomics to develop robust markers for identification and diagnostics of species of regulatory concern.
