Genetic fingerprinting of 184 Aspergillus from Ethiopia isolated in 2015 from peanut seeds, raw data

dataset
posted on 2024-02-15, 22:47 authored by Renee S. Arias, Abdi Mohammed

Genetic fingerprinting of 184 Aspergillus section Flavi isolates from Ethiopia screened with 24 Insertion/Deletion markers located within the aflatoxin-biosynthesis gene cluster. Each file name contains in this order: isolate number, marker number, range of base pairs on the aflatoxin-biosynthesis cluster where the marker is located, and well position within the 384 microplate used for capillary electrophoresis.

Intended use

These are the raw data of genetic fingerprinting 184 Isolates of the fungi Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus that were found colonizing peanut seeds in the Oromiya region of Ethiopia. The complete analysis of the data will be submitted as a manuscript to the scientific journal BMC Microbiology. Making the raw data available to the public is a requirement of that journal, and makes it feasible for any reader who wishes to re-analyze them, to have access to the original source of information.

Use limitations

The data can be used in the future to compare them with newly collected isolates of these fungi; and thus, detect possible changes in population genetics that result from the use of pesticides, or biological control in those environments. Data are in .FSA format, were generated with Applied Biosystems DNA Analyzer 3730, and can be easily processed using the software GeneMapper v. 4.1 or higher.
