Full-length 16S rRNA PacBio Kinnex sequencing of mass-reared Ceratitis capitata in Hawaii 2023, Apr 3 2025

Study evaluated the gut microbiome through full-length 16S-rRNA sequencing of mass-reared Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) originating from Waimanalo, HI, USA. Independent cohorts were sequenced as a part of this effort to determine if different points impacted gut microbiome. Treatments included male flies sterilized via gamma irradiation and parallel controls.Library was conducting using Kinnex 16S rRNA library preparation and sequenced on a PacBio Revio system.
