Metagenomic DNA was extracted from the endophytes of single seeds of the plant Phaseolus vulgaris L. (var. Redhawk) to better understand the variability of the endophytic seed microbiome. Parent plants were grown in a growth chamber in agricultural soil under controlled conditions to maintain plant health. The 16S rRNA V4 region and ITS2 genes were sequenced from the individual seed metagenome to assess the bacterial/archaeal and fungal microbiome of the common bean seed.
