In recent years Uropathogenic Escherichia coli have been identified as foodborne contaminants. Isolates which are present in foods are able to cause urinary tract infections in animal model systems. Therefore it has been proposed that urinary tract infections may be a form of foodborne illness. Clinical uropathogenic E.coli are currently being used to evaluate the effectiveness of food safety technologies.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA429467 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
