The goal of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of two dosing regimens of oxytetracycline (in-feed or intramuscular injection) for treatment of pigs infected with respiratory pathogens, Bordetella bronchiseptica and Pasteurella multocida. We also evaluated whether either route of oxytetracycline administration had any additional impact on the growth and gut microbiota of infected pigs. This study was a follow-up to a previous study (https://doi.org/10.3389/fvets.2020.00255).Fecal samples were collected from pigs at specific time points of the study for subsequent 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis of the gut microbiota.
