The zip file contains posterior samples and fitted surfaces that describe SARS-CoV-2 prevalence estimates for North American white -tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus). Each output file in the zip file contains output for one unique combination of animal sex, age class, harvest type, swab type, and state. The zip file's README file contains additional descriptions about the format of fitted surfaces.

The "SupplementaryData - sample sizes.csv" file contains county-level sample sizes for demographic, age, sex, and sample collection data used in this study.

The manuscript to which this data repository is a supplement describes data collection, processing, and analysis steps.

Intended use

The posterior summaries of fitted surfaces can be used to explore and visualize model output in detail. The posterior samples can be used to compute point estimates and uncertainty for additional posterior quantities (i.e., maxima, etc.), or to simulate synthetic datasets.

Use limitations

Data represent model output. Data are primarily provided at the county level. Aggregation to state or regional scales requires reweighing model output. The manuscript to which this data repository is a supplement describes additional assumptions and limitations about the model and analysis. The sample size csv file shows aggregated sample sizes per county for different groupings. For example, they do not provide granular detail about how many oral swabs came from hunter harvested females.
