Colibacillosis, caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC), is one of the most significant infectious diseases affecting turkeys, layers, and broilers. Here we describe the sequence of APEC O78, an O78 strain isolated from the lung of a turkey clinically diagnosed with colibacillosis. Functional analysis of the genome should enhance the community’s knowledge of the pathogenesis of avian pathogenic E. coli.
