Colibacillosis, caused by avian pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC), is one of the most significant infectious diseases affecting turkeys, layers, and broilers. Here we describe the sequence of first APEC O2 serotype fully complete and closed. This O2 strain was isolated from the air sac of a chicken. Functional analysis of the genome will enhance the community’s knowledge of the pathogenesis of avian pathogenic E. coli.
