Previously uncharacterized bacterial species from the rumen of beef cattle were identified as candidate lactate utilizers using an in vitro batch culture approach. 16s rRNA gene sequencing was used to analyze the bacterial composition of the rumen fluid cultures, and metagenomics was used to sequence the metagenomes of select cultures to analyze the genomes of the candidate lactate utilizers.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA929221 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
