Congener conflict: Invasive barred owl landscape use across the range of the northern spotted owl

These data were compiled to examine barred owl (Strix variaa) acoustic landscape use across the range of the northern spotted owl (Strix occidentallis caurina) in 2023. Data were collected as part of the Northwest Forest Plan Interagency Regional Monitoring program, with passive acoustic monitoring lead by the USDA Forest Service PNW Research Station Bioacoustics Lab. The bioacoustic monitoring program randomly sampled 1,027 sites, primarily located on federally managed lands within the northern spotted owl's range. Associated data allows analysis of acoustic capture histories to understand the roles of environmental codidtion on the current distrubution of barred owls in the US Pacific Northwest.
