Prokaryotic (16S) and eukaryotic (18S) ribosomal sequences were amplified from the same field-collected leaf samples of 16 maize inbreds that varied in severity of tarspot disease caused by the fungus Phyllachora maydis. The long-term goal was to identify potential agents for biocontrol of tarspot.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA1044151 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
