Aspergillus nomius is a filamentous fungus that is of agricultural and medical importance. It is capable of producing toxic secondary metabolites such as B- and G- aflatoxins and cyclopiazonic acid, and is a known contaminant of Brazil nuts. The Aspergillus nomius genome is approximately 36 Mb and contains an estimated 12,000 genes. It has a known sexual state and a heterothallic (self-infertile) breeding system, but some unique strains contain both mating type genes that allow the fungus to be functionally bisexual. If inter-specific breeding is possible then the presence of bisexual A. nomius can increase the likelihood of novel fungal strains.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA246595 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
