A. bombycis is often misidentified due to its host preference, macro-morphological characters and chemotype profile. It was first identified as A. nomius, and has also been mistaken for A. flavus when a thorough examination was lacking. It is not known to be of agricultural significance, but it does produce B and G aflatoxins. Only through micro-morphological comparisons, aflatoxin analysis and molecular examination can this species be accurately distinguished from other closely related Aspergillus species.
It is recommended to cite the accession numbers that are assigned to data submissions, e.g. the GenBank, WGS or SRA accession numbers. If individual BioProjects need to be referenced, state that "The data have been deposited with links to BioProject accession number PRJNA320549 in the NCBI BioProject database (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/)."
