This data publication provides a taxa list of aquatic invertebrates found in outlet streams and laggs of catchments S2 and S6 (acidic bogs), as well as S3 (an alkaline fen) in April 2009 at Marcell Experimental Forest (MEF) in Itasca County, Minnesota. This work is the first inventory of aquatic invertebrates completed at MEF. Invertebrates were identified using a stereoscope to order, family, and genus taxonomic levels when possible. Functional Feeding Group (FFG) classifications were located for each invertebrate taxon from published scientific literature and included in this MEF aquatic invertebrate data publication. Representative invertebrate specimens were preserved in 7% formalin for the physical MEF aquatic invertebrate reference collection to be maintained and stored at the Northern Research Station Forestry Sciences Laboratory in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Aquatic invertebrate data were collected to determine differences and similarities of aquatic invertebrate community diversity within bog and fen catchments at Marcell Experimental Forest.
