Adomaviruses associated with blotchy bass syndrome in largemouth bass

Blotchy bass syndrome has been observed in largemouth bass in the United States since the 1980's. The etiology of the hallmark hypermelanistic lesions (HPMLs) on the external surface of these fish was unknown. Recently an adomavirus has been associated with these clinical signs.
