Larval Asian longhorned beetles were reared in Acer spp., Populus nigra, and Populus tomentosa to determine the impacts of feeding in multiple tree species on the bacterial gut community. After the insects fed in their hosts for two weeks, guts were dissected, DNA was extracted using the MoBio Power Soil DNA isolation kit, and 16S amplicons were generated using the 27F and 907R primers.
